Ingram Micro enters IoT business race

Ingram Micro has announced the launch of its newly formed Internet of Things (IoT) Business Unit in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa (META). The move to launch the IoT business unit follows Ingram Micro’s several solution-based business units including Cloud Technology, Cyber Security and Physical Security.

The company is confident of providing end-to-end solutions by combining vendor products such as IoT sensors, trackers, edge analytics, video analytics and software with expertise from ISVs with industry-specific applications.

“Today, we are launching our IoT business unit which will be a centre of excellence, a solutions provider and a point of expertise for our partners. We welcome Tamer AbdelFattah, who will lead the IoT business unit in the META region, and look forward to the contributions he and his team will make to our business,” said Ali Baghdadi, senior vice president and chief executive, Ingram Micro META.

To complement its main distribution business, Ingram has unveiled several solution-based business units, such as Cloud Technology, Cyber Security and Physical Security, in the past two years.

On leading Ingram Micro’s IoT business unit AbdelFattah shared, “Ingram Micro is making a big investment in IoT on a global level, including the META region. We are putting this investment in the centre of excellence with a highly experienced team.”

According to Ingram Micro, the value added distributor these “centres of excellence” have positioned the company to lead in these high growth segments, supporting the channel in the region and beyond.

He further shared that IoT showcase platforms will be available to vendors, channel partners, end-user customers and even innovators. Ingram will focus on delivering value-added services and become even more relevant to our vendors and market in this technology segment domain.”       Read more…
