The UWB was created in compliance with the FiRa Consortium’s PHY, MAC, and CCC standards and is compliant with the IEEE 802.15.4z standard.

The DWM3001C 6.5GHz and 8GHz UWB module from Qorvo is now available from Mouser. The module is made to speed up IIoT applications for secure bubble environments, access control, tags, and asset tracking. This completely integrated module simplifies UWB installation in applications for automation and security systems in factories and warehouses. For applications involving healthcare personnel and patients, retail security, connected homes, navigation, and more, it enables high-precision, real-time location.

For systems using a typical low-power microcontroller, the device is a fully integrated UWB module and certified (FCC, ETSI, and IC) integrated modem solution. For high-data-throughput applications, the module offers variable data speeds from 850kbps to 6.8Mbps with maximum packet lengths of 1023 bytes. In order to shorten the design cycle, the module incorporates the DW3110 transceiver IC, Nordic Semiconductor nRF52833 Bluetooth Low Energy SoC, a planar UWB antenna, an accelerometer, power management, and crystal.

The RF design of the module has undergone extensive testing and calibration to ensure low power consumption in battery-powered applications. The module is compatible with the Apple U1 chip and can be utilised in TWR or TDoA applications (Beta Evaluation).

The business also offers the DWM3001CDK development kit, which gives designers the ability to build an assessment RTLS and assess hardware performance as a TWR or TDoA tag. SWD and UART interfaces are provided to the module by an integrated J-Link debugger.
