Microcrystal has reached a new milestone in timing references for wearable and IoT applications with its new Real-time Clock Module offering. The RV-3028-C7 module sets the new benchmark for lowest power consumption: 40nA at a 3V supply. Also, the high accuracy of ±1ppm at room temperature eliminates any calibration during manufacturing.
Together with an event detection input, the RTC features all the prerequisites for Wearables, Medical Healthcare and power sensitive IoT applications.
The device features a tiny package of just 3.5 x 1.5 x 0.8 mm. It combines the quartz crystal with the RTC circuit, offering also an integrated battery-back-up switch.
The extremely low power consumption allows using MLCC capacitors to cover the backup time.
Other important features and specifications include an ultra-miniature ceramic SMD package of 3.2 x 1.5 x 0.8 mm, a wide voltage range of 1.2 to 5.5V, I²C interface, etc.
