Today’s fitness enthusiasts want to accurately count calories burned in every step right from their office to workouts and even while swimming underwater. This is taken care of by ST’s new miniature pressure sensor which is spurring accurate and waterproof fitness trackers and smartwatches The sensor is also featured in the new Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro waterproof smartwatch. Panasonic is making high data rates and low-power possible with a new BLE v4.2 + WiFi Dual Band combo module and engineers designing BLE applications with nRF51 and nRF52 series chips from Nordic now get free access to SEGGER’s commercial Embedded Studio IDE.
Pressure Sensor For Waterproof Fitness Trackers
ST’s new miniature, waterproof pressure sensor allows users of smart watches and wearable fitness trackers to track their performance across activities like swimming. The new LPS33HW sensor is a part of Samsung’s Gear Fit 2. The 10bar pressure sensor can withstand being submerged up to 90 meters, and the very low RMS pressure noise of 0.008mbar allows apps like an altimeter, depth gauge, or weather monitor to deliver consistent and stable results.
