The Government of India has postponed its upcoming RAISE 2020 Summit to October 2020. Scheduled to take place in Delhi on fourth, fifth and sixth October 2020, the summit will talk about the use of AI in future of work, financial inclusion, R&D and academia among others.
“AI Startup Pitchfest will be an exclusive closed-door pitching for a select few before the best of investor community and potential customers. AI Startup Theater will provide one of its kind opportunity for select startups to showcase their offering at the center stage of a premium and one of its kind summits globally. We would be institutionalizing AI Startup Awards to recognize the potentially high impact champion startups for using AI as a solution and enabler,” explains RAISE 2020 website.
Venture Capitalists and decision-makers from the Government
The event, as it appears from the website, will be attended by venture capitalists and decision-makers from the government. India, being the fastest growing economy with the second largest population in the world, has a significant stake in the AI revolution explained a NITI AYOG report. Recognising AI’s potential to transform economies and the need for India to strategise its approach, Hon’ble Finance Minister, in his budget speech for 2018 – 2019, mandated NITI Aayog to establish the National Program on AI
“The step to postpone the Summit is a public health measure for containment and mitigation of the current COVID-19 outbreak,” Abhishek Singh, president and chief executive, National e-Governance Division (NeGD), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY ) said via a press statement.
