The acquisition will increase Cognizant’s presence in Eastern Europe and improve its embedded software engineering capabilities.
Cognizant, a global leader in IT services and consulting, has agreed to purchase Mobica, a Manchester-based provider of internet of things (IoT) software engineering services. Through the acquisition, Cognizant will be able to provide clients with a greater spectrum of end-to-end support to aid in their digital transformation.
The services offered by Mobica cover the entire software development lifecycle, with a focus on clients’ internal research and development initiatives as well as core skills in embedded software development, implementation, testing, and deployment.
In order to expand its position as a strategic partner in business digital transformation, Cognizant claims that the company has experience in three critical areas: connected devices and digital transformation, silicon and technology platforms, and automotive and intelligent mobility.
The transaction, which is anticipated to close in February subject to fulfilment of closing conditions, would further strengthen Cognizant’s footprint in Eastern Europe after its acquisitions of the Lithuanian company Devbridge in 2021 and the Romanian company Softvision in 2018.
“Mobica’s strong track record of delivering strategic embedded software engineering services is well-aligned to Cognizant’s Global 2,000 client base and key industries, while its large presence in Poland significantly enhances our growing development teams in Eastern Europe,” says Annadurai Elango, executive vice president of core technologies and insights at Cognizant.
