Q. How can we make sure the IoT product that we are using is completely secure?
A. Our prediction is that by 2020 in an urban staying, where a family of four would be residing, we would have almost 50 wireless connected devices. So, we are looking at the ratio of almost 1:10 devices including your watch, car, alarm, TV, phone, microwave, refrigerator etc. So even if one device is not fully secure, it is going to be a huge problem.
The major problem with IoT products is that these products are made from multiple devices that come from different companies and all the companies are not religious about security. The best way to resolve this is by educating the customers to check the security of the device by checking for the certification. From the Wi-Fi point of view, you should check if the product is certified or compromised on certain aspects of compliance before using them.
