Recently, the Department of Information Technology of CHARUSAT’s Chandubhai S Patel Institute of Technology organized a short-term training programme (STTP) on research opportunities in Internet of Things (IoT). The 5-day programme was arranged under the Endowment Chair Activity for the young aspirants of CHARUSAT.

During the STTP, means to enhance the skills of IoT in hardware and software realisation on embedded SoC board were evaluated. More than 190 aspiring engineers and intellectual research scholars took part in the programme. As an outcome, Charotar University of Science and Technology (CHARUSAT) will start a centre of excellence (CoE) on IoT at its Changa-based campus in Anand district in collaboration with the Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland.

Dr. Marcin Paprzycki, an eminent professor from Poland was invited from February 12 to February 16 at the STTP. He gave an insight and directions for research in the respective domain. Initializing with the basics of IoT concepts, he focused on manifold emerging technologies like a semantic net, cloud computing and machine learning.

Paprzycki works as an associate professor at the Systems Research Institute at the Polish Academy of Sciences with over 450 plus research publications to his credit in varied domains. His expertise spreads across IoT, high-performance parallel computing, software agents in machine learning, social and philosophical sciences among others.

Few professors and research scholars have shown their keen interest to pursue their future research projects under the guidance of Dr. Marcin, in collaboration with Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland. He has even proposed ideas for developing projects namely ‘Internet of Cows’ and ‘IOT research lab at CHARUSAT’ taking IOT on a global level.
