Nokia has launched a new software to help communication service operators manage eSIMs and integrated SIMs used to connect IoT devices to the network.
The software iSIM Secure Connect intends to builds on eSIM and integrated SIM (iSIM) technology linked to trusted digital identification. While old mobile devices use physical SIM cards to authenticate user’s identity, eSIMs and iSIMs are software based solutions to securely mange multiple subscriptions. The company said it is a vendor-agnostic, and can be deployed in various network and cloud environments, supporting IoT business and operating models.
“iSIM unleashes a wide range of growth opportunities for CSPs and enterprises and enables new innovations that build proven value on top of this new technology. As part of Nokia’s Cloud and Network Services product portfolio, iSIM Secure Connect will help our customers both streamline the process of managing millions more device subscriptions and deliver more innovative services quickly and securely,” said Hamdy Farid, head of business applications at Nokia’s Cloud and Network Services, in a statement.
According to Counterpoint Research, the market for eSIM and iSIM devices including smartphones and cellular IoT devices is expected to be more than €6 billion by 2025, fueled by the growing demand for IoT services.
