India to Set up 20 Centres for Research in AI, IoT and Quantum Computing Soon

With a budget of Rs 3,660 crore, the work on establishing these research centres  will start from next financial year

It has been reported that 20 physical cyber centres will set up in India soon for research in future technologies.It includes Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Internet of Things (IoT) and Quantum Computing.

While attending in the 106th Indian Science Congress held at Punjab’s Lovely Professional University,Ashutosh Sharma, secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, has announced that a budget of Rs 3,660 crore (~ US$ 525.57 million) will be allocated for setting up these centres across India.

The work will start from the next financial year and these centres will be established in existing institutes of excellence such as IITs and IISc.

India is ready for future challenge

Ashutosh Sharma stated that there will be a rise of the intelligent machines, cyber physical systems that will have the ability of perception, decision making, and action.Also there will be greater linkages for example a network of driverless car will learn  from the mistakes of one another.The future of science will be in intelligent machines and the connection between the cyber and the physical systems, and India is ready for the challenge.
