Engineering Students With AI Training Get Higher Pay in Hyderabad: Study

According to a report by the New Indian Express, a study has revealed that engineering students from Hyderabad who are trained in Artificial Intelligence (AI) are paid much higher than their counterparts from traditional engineering backgrounds. This study on the Indian AI industry was conducted by edtech company, Great Learning.

Starting salary of Rs 7 lakh per annum

The report said that students with AI background got a starting salary of Rs 7 lakh per annum. Normally students from traditional engineering students get a starting salary of around Rs 3.5 lakh. The report added that the sector in which they found jobs include IT and consulting.

As per the report, the companies that hired the most students with AI training include HSBC, Genpact, DXC Technology, RBS and LatentView Analytics. The core skills the companies are looking for in the students are statistics, machine-learning basics, Python, SQL and Tableau.

Year of AI

The state government has decided to observe 2020 as the state’s “Year of AI”. Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao will officially declare 2020 as the Year of AI on 2nd January.

On 18th December, a round-table was organised in Hyderabad. It was done to formulate AI-specific incentives and Telangana’s AI strategy framework document. The roundtable was attended by experts in the field of AI and they contributed to the document. This document will be finalised after several rounds of consultations.
