Kyndryl has extended its two-year collaboration with Nokia as private wireless and edge computing catch the attention of businesses trying to find solutions to their complicated connectivity problems.

The former managed infrastructure company Kyndryl, which was spun off from IBM in 2021 and currently ranks No. 6 on the 2022 CRN Solution Provider 500, believes that 2023 will be the year that businesses accelerate their IoT and digital transformation strategies. Gretchen Tinnerman, vice president, U.S. network and edge practise leader for Kyndryl, emphasised the importance of private LTE and 5G as a connectivity option that complements existing enterprise wireless infrastructure.

More than 100 successful private networking customer engagements with Nokia have been completed by Kyndryl to far. The New York City-based firm declared on Tuesday that as a result, it has achieved Nokia Digital Automation Cloud (DAC) advanced accreditation level.

According to Tinnerman, Kyndryl thinks Nokia currently offers the best-in-class private wireless devices and services to serve its customers. The collaboration brings together resources and practitioners with in-depth knowledge who can provide secure LTE and 5G private wireless networking solutions across a range of sectors globally.

Since the beginning of the collaboration, Kyndryl has worked with Nokia to comprehend business challenges in specialised industries like manufacturing, health care, energy, or oil and gas, as well as to develop private wireless strategies for some of the most recognisable names, including Dow, one of the biggest chemical producers in the world.

One of the largest U.S. energy corporations, a sizable U.S. health care provider, a global petrochemical firm, and a top Asian aluminium and copper manufacturer are among the organisations with which the two companies are presently collaborating on 5G and private wireless deployments. About 24 different countries can use private wireless services from Kyndryl. According to Tinnerman, the company is extending its reach as more spectrum becomes available.

In order to power private networking and link IoT installations, Kyndryl collaborates with a number of different partners in addition to Nokia. As more connected devices with Intel chips enter the environs of clients, Tinnerman said Intel is another essential partner to the business. The company intends to collaborate with additional private networking suppliers in the future.

Additionally, on Tuesday, Kyndryl announced the opening of a partner innovation lab in Raleigh, North Carolina, with Palo Alto Networks as a security partner. The lab will test and provide industrial firms with cutting-edge and secure wireless connectivity. Later this month, the two businesses will speak face-to-face on stage at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona to go over how they are collaborating to accelerate the adoption of 5G private networks.
