In an exciting announcement, South Korea-based multinational electronics company Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd has decided to set up four new state-of-the-art experience centres in India that will showcase its end-to-end Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. Indian cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad fall under the radar for the project.
These centres will help the company develop AI-based ecosystem for homes and workplaces and familiarize customers about the same, thus boosting sales. Afterwards, these experience centres will be extended to the company-owned branded stores in India.
First Indian experience centre
The company opened its first mobile experience centre for the Indian market in Bengaluru in September 2018.
The 33,000-sq. ft establishment houses Samsung’s largest mobile experience centre globally.  It displays Samsung’s existing range of IoT-enabled products alongwith smartphones and wearable devices. Consumers get to experience virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI)-based products. Apart from this, they can also watch movies by pre-booking Samsung’s home theatre zone at the same Bengaluru facility.
Innovative virtual assistant
Samsung’s Bixby-enabled Family Hub smart refrigerators allows users to: answer calls, access third-party apps from a Galaxy smartphone, find nearby restaurants or share notes, pictures, videos and music using the Family Board feature.
Bixby is a virtual assistant feature that has been developed by Samsung.
Raju Pullan, senior vice-president, consumer electronics business, Samsung India, said, “Samsung Bixby is the platform that we are investing in India. The investments on Bixby have not only been in mobiles or TV, but also to make, for example, refrigerators smarter. Like the Family Hub (for) the fridge, the microwave and washing machine can also be connected to one ecosystem.”
