oneM2M certification through GCF will be key to ensuring proper functionality and compliance with industry standards for fast, efficient, and secure IoT solutions in the connected world.

At the ongoing MWC19 in Barcelona, Global Certification Forum (GCF) and Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), cementing a collaboration on the global certification solution for global Internet of Things (IoT) standards body oneM2M.

The solution, which was announced last year, becomes official with this milestone event and recognises the critical importance of mobile technologies in IoT-enabled M2M solutions – a trend which is set to accelerate with the advent of 5G.

oneM2M certification through GCF will be key to ensuring proper functionality and compliance with industry standards for fast, efficient, and secure IoT solutions in the connected world.

“Today we are delighted to formalise our collaboration with TTA on a certification programme that will allow technologies to comply with oneM2M standards globally,” said Lars Nielsen, General Manager at GCF.

“IoT applications are the beating heart of the 5G ecosystem, which we have seen all around us at MWC19 in Barcelona this year. Companies engaging in our initiative will significantly benefit from successful and reliable IoT connectivity, ensuring a successful deployment of 5G,” he added.

Working towards developing global standards

Founded in 1999, GCF defines the certification requirements for the mobile industry by working closely with 3GPP, a global cooperation of independent standardization committees that define specifications for wireless standards.

oneM2M is the global standards initiative that covers requirements, architecture, API specifications, security solutions and interoperability for machine-to-machine and IoT technologies.

TTA is a private voluntary organization that develops and establishes new information and communication technology (ICT) standards and offers internationally recognized one-stop testing and certification services for standard ICT products.
