A committee under the Department of Telecommunications( DoT) has invited papers on Artificial Intelligence. The papers should be able to address various aspects like AI like functional network architecture, AI architecture, data structures required. The papers can be submitted by participants from academia, research, and technical industries, telecom service providers, application service providers to ddgadmnap-dot@gov.in and diradmnap-dot@gov.in till 25th November.

Five focus areas

DoT said that as AI enters more into our lives, there is a need to develop an Indian AI stack to bring interoperability. The department wants five areas of focus in these papers. Firstly it includes Standardisation of the functional architecture, AI architecture and data structures. Secondly it will focus on standardisation of the type of interfaces and protocols, technologies employed, systems deployed, benchmarking practices.

Thirdly it would keep an eye on standardisation in trustworthiness and digital rights and ethical standards in AI.The last two areas of focus will be standardisation in interoperability Standards and development of Indian AI stack.

Recently, the government had formed a committee to sort out differences over AI implementation duties between The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) and National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog). The committee was asked to remove the duplication of work between various government bodies. It also had to solve the issue of overlap between MEITY’s and NITI Aayog’s AI deployment plan.
