Bharti Airtel has deployed 100 hops of 5G technology transmission equipment of Chinese technology major Huawei in the last six months. Huawei’s 5G enhanced MIMO technology has been optimized to reduce the Rayleigh distance of LOS (Line of Sight) MIMO.
Multiple-input, Multiple-output (MIMO) is a key enabler and a foundational component of 5G. A MIMO can multiply the capacity of a wireless connection without requiring more spectrum.
About enhanced MIMO solution
Huawei’s 5G enhanced MIMO technology has been optimized to reduce the Rayleigh distance of LOS (Line of Sight) MIMO. With standard MIMO solution in the microwave industry, the antenna installation distance is reduced by 70 per cent and multipath interference of long-distance links is resolved to ensure MIMO links work stably.
Huawei claimed that the enhanced MIMO solution will resolve the bandwidth challenges, reduce tower space requirement by 50 per cent and increase deployment scenario by 30 per cent.
“Creating value for customers with innovative technologies is the survival reason for Huawei microwave. Huawei microwave is looking forward to joint innovation with more operators for network development,” said Perry Yang, president of Microwave Product Line of Huawei.
Huawei is an independent, privately-held company that provides information and communication technology (ICT). Huawei employs 180,000 people in more than 170 countries.
