As per a report by the Times of India, the Andhra Pradesh energy department is contemplating the introduction of IoT-enabled power control devices in MSMEs after the lockdown. As per the report, these IoT-based reports will improve the performance of MSMEs by reducing energy consumption. It will make such units profitable and sustainable.
The report added that Andhra Pradesh State Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM) had recently entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Union ministry of commerce and National Productivity Council (NPC) to introduce IoT-based devices in MSME units. As per the report, the NPC had has developed these IoT-based devices in association with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad. It also demonstrated the functioning of these devices in real-time.
Real-time monitoring of various electrical parameters
The report said that the devices were deployed in two MSME units in Rajahmundry as part of a pilot project. As per officials, the results have been satisfactory. The report also said that the IoT-enabled device supports real-time monitoring of various electrical parameters and sends information to the cloud. After that, the cloud generates useful alerts to consumers through mobile or e-mail. This information allows consumers to conduct reactive and proactive maintenance of electric supply within the plant as per the report. This allows to prevent excessive energy consumption and protect industrial machinery from voltage fluctuations and also reduce costs.
