The Lab, to be placed at Zhangjiang Science City in Pudong, will be the first-of-its-kind in Asian-Pacific Region.
Microsoft,the tech giant is all set to open its third and largest Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) Insider Lab in Shanghai.
The new facility, to be located on the “AIsland” of Zhangjiang Science City in Pudong, will be the first-of-its-kind in Asian-Pacific Region. The company has recently signed a memorandum of strategic cooperation with Shanghai’s Pudong New Area for development of the Lab, which is expected to open in April.The tech leader has already two such labs in Seattle and Munich.
Spread across 2,800 square metres, the new lab will be dedicated for research and development for AI and IoT,which aims to enhance deep integration of AI and IoT. It will work with local enterprises and multinational companies to build prototypes through production, conduct technical training, provide go-to-market advisory, and deployment and scalability guidance. This will help digital transformation across industries including manufacturing, retail,healthcare, and the public sector.
Roan Kang, vice president of Microsoft China, believes that the new lab will facilitate increased productivity for Chinese business.He also commented that China is the world’s largest IoT market, with great potential in deploying AI and IoT technologies.
