China-based software company Thunder Software Technology Co Ltd is planning to invest $500 million in India over the next five years. The company has already made a foray into India by establishing an IT development center in Hyderabad.

 

 

Thunder Software Technology Co Ltd chairman and CEO Hongfei Zhao told newspersons that they are planning an investment of $500 million in India over the next five years, a chunk of which will come here to Hyderabad. Our vision is also to get to 1,000 employees in India by 2022. He further stated that the company is also looking at expanding its presence in Bengaluru.

ThunderSoft India vice-president Sudharani Pillai told newspersons that the company is focused on four main areas — smart terminals and automotive, AI, IoT and 5G, and is already in parleys with two Indian customers in the healthcare wearables and smart vehicles.

Headquartered in Beijing, ThunderSoft operates 21 R&D centers and offices globally in Beijing, Nanjing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Wuhan, Xian, Shenyang and Dalian, Tokyo, Nagoya, Seoul, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Taipei, Silicon Valley, San Diego, and Helsinki, Sofia, Penang, Hyderabad.

ThunderSoft has joint ventures with both Arm and Qualcomm – with Arm, they have created the Arm Accelerator, an incubator for leading startups, and with Qualcomm, they have set up Thundercomm, focused on accelerating the development of IoT.

Alongside Qualcomm, Intel and Microsoft, they have established a joint laboratory with each company for component adaptation and terminal testing to provide advanced technical support in a high-quality environment.
