At the ongoing 5G summit in Barcelona, Spain, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., has announced that it is developing a cellular chip especially optimised for Microsoft’s Azure Sphere Internet of Things (IoT) operating system that will enable secure connection to the Azure Sphere security cloud services.
Azure Sphere is Microsoft’s end-to-end IoT solution that includes an Azure Sphere chip, the Azure Sphere Operating System and the Azure Sphere Security Service. It is expexted that Qualcomm Technologies’ expertise in strong hardware-based security will help in securing Microsoft’s solutions to make necessary device updates.

Previous collaboration
Previously, both Qualcomm Technologies and Microsoft had worked upon introducing the Vision AI Developer Kit for Azure IoT solutions that featured the Qualcomm® Vision Intelligence 300 Platform. It offered powerful edge computing for AI and machine learning across a wide range of IoT applications.
