- Lumi’s embedded sensor in LG appliances will be capable of detecting a range of indoor physical parameters.
- The joint venture products will also be showcased at the upcoming IFA 2019 in Berlin.
South Korea-based electronics giant, LG Electronics and China-based IoT solutions provider, LUMI United Technology, have signed a memorandum of understanding to create an ecosystem offering complete home IoT solution. The partnership will be focuss on developing innovations using AI and advanced sensors that can detect humidity levels, temperature and motion in an indoor environment.
Aqara sensor
LUMI’s Aqara sensor embedded in LG products will enhance home safety and comfort by reducing energy consumption. For example, the embedded sensor in an LG air conditioner will be capable of setting the desired temperature and thus enable its automatic operation. And with the sensor attached to a window, a user will receive real-time notifications as and when it is opened while the LG appliance is in operation.
“We are very excited to partner with LUMI and to share our latest smart home living solutions,” said Ryu Hye-Jung, executive director of LG Home Appliance & Air Solution Company’s Smart Home Business. “Through this strategic partnership LG will evolve the connected home ecosystem in ways that will matter to consumers, expanding our smart home solutions to include smart buildings as well as smart cities.”
LG and LUMI together will be demonstrating their collaborated works such as the LG dehumidifier and the LG WK7 intelligent speaker at the upcoming IFA 2019 in Berlin.
