The companies hope to deliver an IoT construction solution which ensures that equipment operates longer, reduces costs, and improves efficiency

Hyundai, SK Telecom, and US-based Trimble are partnering on an IoT construction solution which incorporates 5G and AI.

The trio will develop solutions for remote construction equipment monitoring, real-time safety management, and AI-based construction operations.

By bringing their expertise together, the companies hope to deliver an IoT construction solution which ensures that equipment operates longer, reduces costs, and improves efficiency.

Combining the companies’ expertise

While Hyundai Construction Equipment will provide the physical hardware for the solution with equipment such as forklifts and excavators, Trimble will provide the necessary software in areas such as navigation and modelling. Trimble will also develop a technology that uses drones to measure geography and turn that information into digital data.

Under this partnership, SK Telecom will provide its knowledge in 5G connectivity to provide reliable management enabling construction to continue without issue.

They will also integrate AI into planning, measuring, pricing, and building to increase operation efficiency during construction.

South Korean telecommunications carrier SK Telecom and Samsung had already announced that they will collaborate in improving 5G equipment.
