NECTI’s video surveillance systems will support in enforcing traffic discipline with the help of artificial intelligence (AI)-based analytics software

NEC Technologies India (NECTI), a leading company providing integration of IT and network technologies, announced that it has bagged a contract to deploy advanced video surveillance and traffic management systems in the city of Gurugram, Haryana.

NECTI, in order to support the deployment of a comprehensively integrated video surveillance system, will install IP-based outdoor security cameras across several identified sites in the city, the company said in a statement.

NECTI’s video surveillance systems will support Gurugram Municipal Development Authority in enforcing traffic discipline with the help of artificial intelligence (AI)-based analytics software like Red Light Violation Detection (RLVD) and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR).

Help in monitoring traffic junctions

The advanced system will help in monitoring traffic junctions and other sensitive areas for identifying traffic offenders and send alerts. With the help of these systems, subsequent e-challans can be issued to the traffic rules offenders who are captured on the cameras.

Under the contract, NECTI will set up a range of CCTV cameras to perform traffic enforcement and general surveillance at certain locations across 115 sectors of Gurugram and Manesar. The contract was awarded in March this year.

In the first phase, around 1,200 High Definition (HD) and Ultra High Definition (UHD) cameras are likely to be installed in more than 200 traffic junctions. These cameras will send video feeds round the clock to the monitoring centers.

The project will use the dedicated Optical Fiber Backbone that is recently being laid out by the Gugugram Metropolitan Development Authority by leveraging the robust ring network topology.

The cameras installed will feature NeoFace Watch, the flagship facial recognition software platform of NEC, for identifying persons of interest and other suspicious elements to help in the law enforcement efforts.

Creating safer environment

Commenting on the development, Takayuki Inaba, Managing Director, NEC Technologies India, said, “Gurugram, one of Delhi’s major satellite cities, is host to many leading brands and representatives from across the world and is widely acknowledged as a finance and technology hub. We are honored to be awarded this project and contribute to Gurugram’s smart city ambitions.”

“NEC aims to leverage our global expertise while bringing cutting-edge technologies and established best-practices to Gurugram as a Master System Integrator. We are looking forward to working closely with the Gurugram Municipal Development Authority to create a better society and a safer environment for its residents,” he added.
