Logic Supply Unveils Karbon 300 Rugged Fanless Computer for IoT

Karbon 300 rugged fanless computer is available with the option of pre-installing AWS IoT Greengrass with machine learning inference

Logic Supply, a global industrial and Internet of Things (IoT) hardware manufacturer, announced that the introduction of Karbon 300 rugged fanless computer, which is designed for use as an industrial or mobile gateway, workstation, automation PC or digital media device.

The latest system has been engineered to support innovators in overcoming the limitations related to the deployment of reliable computer hardware in harsh and challenging environments.

To create the Karbon 300 rugged fanless computer, Logic Supply combined the latest vision processing, wireless communication technologies, security protocols and proven cloud architectures.

Briefing about the offering, Murat Erdogan, VP of Products, Logic Supply, said, “Computing at the edge is increasingly at the core of today’s Industry 4.0 and Industrial IoT solutions. These devices are being deployed in environments that would quickly destroy traditional computer hardware. The builders and creators we work with require a careful combination of connectivity, processing and environmental protections.”

“With Karbon 300, we’re providing the ideal mix of capabilities to help make the next generation of industry-shaping innovation a reality, and enable innovators to truly challenge what’s possible,” Erdogan added.

Testing for extreme environments

He further explained, “We wanted to challenge ourselves to build a piece of rugged hardware that was more resistant to environmental damage than anything we’ve ever designed before. We’ve always been obsessive about reliability, but we subjected Karbon 300 to stresses above and beyond our usual battery of tests, including additional vibration and impact testing, as well as higher and lower temperature extremes. The result is a computer system that provides incredible installation flexibility, wherever computing power is needed.”

In order to meet the demands of challenging computing environments, Karbon 300 rugged fanless computer is tested as per the IEC 60068-2-27 and IEC 60068-2-64/ MIL-STD-810 procedures for vibration and shock.

With organisations finding the need to shift more of their computing resources to the edge, the system can be pre-configured to easily communicate with the Amazon Web Services (AWS). Available with the option of pre-installing AWS IoT Greengrass with machine learning (ML) inference, the system can perform ML tasks and allow the use of ML models developed and trained in the cloud to be used locally at the edge.
