Xiaomi has announced investing RMB 50 billion on its 5G + AIoT approach. The investment, as the company pointed out, will help in ensuring its dominance over the new smart living era.

“To us, 5G is not merely about a faster smartphone network, while AIoT is also not just about AI technologies or IoT platforms. Instead, 5G+AIoT will be a revolutionary combination that will fundamentally change all Xiaomi’s products, platforms and user scenarios, catalyzing the next stage of our growth in the next generation of Internet era,” read an open-letter posted by Xiaomi’s chairman Lei Jun.

It is to be noted here that Xiaomi had initially announced investing RMB 10 billion towards its AIOT approach. The additional 40 billion hint how seriously the China-based company is taking AIoT.
