The latest series of modules and modems is engineered to support innovations in IoT and computing ability at network edge

Digi International, a global leader in offering internet of things (IoT) connectivity products and services, will highlight its latest smart edge IoT modules and modems under its Digi XBee3 series at Electronica 2018 to be held next week in Munich, Germany. The company will put a special emphasis on its Digi XBee3 Cellular with NB-IoT.

Commenting on the development, Chris Bowen, Vice President, EMEA, at Digi International, said, “Digi addresses connection and networking needs with a full range of embedded hardware options, software specifically developed to optimise IoT deployments and expert services to ensure customer success. Digi is not just connecting the things in the IoT, we’re offering data, insights and management tools to maximise performance and drive business value.”

To support innovations

The latest series of modules and modems is engineered to support innovations in IoT and computing ability at network edge. The latest Digi XBee3 offers MicroPython software implementation and dual-mode radios, having the capability for upgrading through software to Bluetooth Low Energy (LE), that enable connectivity of local device from a tablet or smartphone.

The latest series adopts a modular method for IoT connectivity which comprises options for Wi-Fi, Zigbee, or cellular that includes NB-IoT and LTE-M. Digi XBee3 allows innovative IoT solutions which can be more quickly created, prototyped and can be produced on mass level for optimum return on investment.

These solutions can be implemented, provisioned and supervised using Digi XCTU and Digi Remote Manager (DRM) – the secure and centralised device management platform of the company. Moreover, in order to provide insight into the device and network health, Digi Remote Manager automates updates, directly accesses data from the edge and integrates data into open application program interfaces (APIs) to offer users with deeper insights.
