The two companies have already started joint development of the Sigfox Bubble Beacon/Tag for luggage and asset tracking.
Sigfox, the French Internet of Things (IoT) specialist and first global 0G network operator, and Japanese company Alps Alpine, a manufacturer of high-quality electronic products, have entered into a partnership agreement for joint business development.
The combination of Sigfox’s 0G network and Alps Alpine’s mass production capabilities will facilitate IoT market expansion and new services creation, Alps Alpine said in a press release.
Alps Alpine manufactures components including sensors, HMI (human-machine interfaces), switches and connectivity devices for the automotive, industrial and smartphone industries.
As per the deal, Alps Alpine will get early access to Sigfox’s R&D projects, allowing them to co-develop relevant services. The partnership agreement also includes joint investment in innovation and joint go-to-market strategy.
“By combining resources, we are realising the future of a mass, mainstream IoT, while pushing the boundaries of what’s possible,” said Glen Robinson, Chief Business Development Officer at Sigfox.
Starts joint development
With this partnership, Alps Alpine is seeking to further enhance the global expansion of the IoT asset tracking solutions.
The two companies have already started joint development of the Sigfox Bubble Beacon/Tag for luggage and asset tracking. This low-cost, low-energy technology is expected to be widely applied to the management of barrage and palettes.
“By combining our mass production and engineering capabilities with Sigfox’s low-powered network, there is no limit to what we can achieve together,” asserted Yasuo Sasao, Chief Technology Officer at Alps Alpine.
Since 2017, Sigfox and Alps Alpine have partnered on common customer projects and earlier this year they launched their innovative tracking solution for Deutsche Post DHL Group, a leading German logistics company.
