The IBM Watson IoT platform is developed to support clients in improving the operational efficiency of their physical assets and in addressing potential risks through AI-driven insights
Guardhat, a global industrial safety technology company, announced that it has entered into a partnership with IBM Watson Internet of Things (IoT). Under the collaboration, Guardhat will integrate its IoT platform – KYRA with the Maximo Worker Insights solution of IBM to offer near real-time situational awareness utilising smart personal protection equipment (PPE).
Speaking about the development, Saikat Dey, Co-Founder and CEO, Guardhat, said, “The implementation of smart protective equipment allows us to better analyse workplace data and provide important safety insights in near real-time. By collaborating with IBM, we are able to leverage Maximo Worker Insights to bring smart safety to scale in the construction, manufacturing and refining industries.”
Enhance worker safety
In order to modernise worker safety, Guardhat is adapting the IoT technology with conventional safety equipment. The application of such technologies enables the industrial leaders to identify and respond to the possible risks in near real-time. This result in minimising of accidents and injuries at the workplace.
The IBM Watson IoT platform is developed to support clients in improving the operational efficiency of their physical assets and in addressing potential risks through artificial intelligence (AI)-driven insights. IBM’s Maximo Worker Insights, a leading industry solution, monitors environmental and biometric data in near real-time from wearables and other connected devices in order to help the employers in identifying potential risks at the workplace.
The proprietary software of Guardhat actively monitors the location, body temperature, pulse and work environment of the user. This offers a holistic view of the work environment of every user and alerts immediately in the event of a fall, lockout zones, exposure to toxic gases and proximity to a moving equipment.
By leveraging cutting-edge safety technology, Guardhat is able to offer the customers with integral data that can be used to enhance safety management and minimise injuries at the workplace by up to 20 per cent.
