Through this partnership, enterprises can integrate their business processes with managed connectivity services offered by Telstra and Ericsson

Ericsson, a leading global networking and telecommunications company and Australia’s largest telecom provider Telstra, announced that they entered into a partnership to offer Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity to enterprises globally.

To provide IoT connectivity, Ericsson’s Connectivity Management services from its IoT Accelerator solution will be integrated into Telstra’s IoT solution and mobile network.

The association will bring together Ericsson’s connectivity services and Telstra’s cellular IoT capabilities that will allow original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and enterprises to implement, manage and scale the IoT connected devices and applications worldwide.

Telstra’s enterprise customers, from March 30, 2019, will be able to access, manage and track their IoT devices and networked assets locally, nationally or globally through access to the company’s cellular IoT capabilities such as CAT-M1 technology and Narrowband-IoT (NB-IoT).

Easy way to manage connected devices

Commenting on the partnership, Håkan Eriksson, Technology Executive and CTO, Telstra, said, “With the ever-increasing expansion of the IoT market, our partnership with Ericsson will offer our customers an easier way to manage and scale connected devices and applications, and with our combination of NB-IoT and Cat-M1 technologies, international enterprises, across a range of industries, will have international IoT connectivity solutions.”

Emilio Romeo, Head of Ericsson Australia and New Zealand, said, “Through this announcement, enterprises can now integrate their business processes with the managed connectivity services offered by Telstra and Ericsson to create highly reliable IoT solutions, which will help to drive digital transformation of industries in Australia and internationally.”

Capitalising on IoT potential

Romeo further said, “We are enabling enterprises to launch IoT services on a global scale and helping the industry to capitalise on the tremendous potential that IoT brings. This is further evidence of how Ericsson IoT Accelerator can help enterprises to manage their IoT connections with ease, while helping our partners, such as Telstra, to create new opportunities and revenue streams.”

Ericsson’s IoT Accelerator connectivity management service, which was earlier called Device Connection Platform, is a unified connectivity and device management platform that provides enterprise customers reliable connectivity based on the service level pacts and a common, unified view of devices and access networks. The platform supports over 30 operators from more than 100 countries that service over 3500 enterprises in several industries to manage IoT connectivity services globally.
