Lenovo is developing pre-tested and pre-integrated IoT Solution Bundles that integrate software, hardware and services for channel partners
Lenovo, a leading computer manufacturing and technology company, is going to quadruple its investments in Internet of Things (IoT) solutions this year, according to a senior company official.
“We’re going to quadruple our investment in IoT solutions and the corresponding enablement of the channel – that’s 4X,” Wilfredo Sotolongo, Vice President and Chief Customer Officer, Data Center Group of Lenovo told crn.com.
“It’s the single largest investment the company is going to make this year. It’s a corporate-level play. It’s not just what the Data Center Group is going to do, or the Intelligent Devices Group is going to do. No, it’s all Lenovo,” he said.
Supporting partners to push IoT sales
The company is developing pre-tested and pre-integrated IoT Solution Bundles that integrate software, hardware and services for channel partners to push IoT sales. Recently, the company created a new Smart Vertical Group that consists of vertical experts who will design IoT solutions, customised for specific industry segments.
Sotolongo further said that Lenovo is pre-integrating these solutions in its factories and testing them in inhouse development labs. The company is also providing its partners a cookbook.
“The channel partners will have a much easier time launching these solutions as compared to developing their own IoT solution every time,” he added.
In addition, the company will invest in a ‘channel sales force’ that is focused on creating robust relationships with solution providers who are specialises in specific vertical markets, said Sotolongo.
We’re poised to take the IoT market by storm, driven by a better-equipped team of channel partners, Sotolongo said.
“As we keep morphing and transforming ourselves and our solution set, we will launch new programs that motivate the channel to go in the IoT direction and in the vertical solutions direction,” he said.
